If you've seen our A New Marvel shirt and had no idea what it meant, this one's for you. The line comes from Friendship, the Tim Robinson movie, and it's one of the most quoted bits of the whole thing.

What Friendship is

Friendship is a cringe comedy written and directed by Andrew DeYoung and released by A24. It premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2024 and hit theaters in 2025.

Robinson plays Craig Waterman, a suburban guy with no social skills and no friends. Paul Rudd plays Austin, the effortlessly cool TV weatherman who moves in down the street. Austin takes an interest in Craig, Craig latches on far too hard, and the whole thing comes apart in ways that are painful to watch and impossible to stop watching. Kate Mara plays Craig's wife, Tami.

Why it feels like a very long sketch

Robinson co-created I Think You Should Leave, the Netflix sketch show that turned into a meme factory. Friendship takes that same energy, a man defending an indefensible position with total conviction, and stretches it to feature length.

Critics split on whether that works. Rolling Stone called it a movie pre-designed to become a supercut, praising the standout bits while noting the long stretches of dead air between them. Plenty of other reviewers loved exactly that discomfort.

The Marvel thing

One of those standout bits is Craig melting down over someone spoiling a superhero movie for him. Rolling Stone's review even singles it out: rage over spoilers about the new Marvel that's supposed to be nuts.

That's it. That's the shirt. If you know, you know, and if you don't, you now look like someone with strong feelings about upcoming comic book movies, which around here is also accurate.

What else Robinson has going

I Think You Should Leave has three seasons on Netflix and Robinson has said publicly that he doesn't consider it over. He also stars in The Chair Company, which arrived in 2025, playing a man unraveling over an incident at work. If Friendship worked for you, that's the next stop.
